Discover the joy of sewing in this relaxed and friendly beginner’s workshop in Stafford. Whether you’ve never touched a sewing machine or simply want to refresh your skills, this class is the perfect place to start your stitching journey.
This class is ideal for complete beginners. You’ll learn step by step at an easy pace, with plenty of guidance and time to practice. All sewing machines and equipment are provided -- just bring your enthusiasm and a willingness to create!
What to expect:
  • Learn how to thread a sewing machine and wind a bobbin.
  • Understand and change different presser feet.
  • Try out essential stitches and learn when to use them.
  • Get confident using sewing tools safely and effectively.
  • Create your very own tote bag (with a pocket!) to take home.
  • Enjoy tea, coffee, and biscuits throughout the day.
Bring along a packed lunch and one metre of medium-weight woven fabric (like quilting cotton), or purchase a ready-made tote bag kit on the day -- enough to make two bags!
You’ll leave feeling confident, inspired, and proud of your first handmade creation -- a perfect mix of creativity, learning, and fun.

Please note: Public dates for this class require at least 4 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we'll cancel the class; in this case we'll inform you and allow you to get a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.

FAQ

Can I bring my own machine?
Yes you can if you are confident on your own machine.Please be aware that the sewing machines we use has a horizontal rotary hook and if your machine has a vertical hook .The learning to use your sewing machine part of the class will be slightly different terminology.
Apart from the sewing machines what else do you provide ?
We provide all sewing equipment ,scissors ,tape measures and pins to use while in the class . If you have your own sewing kit you are welcome to bring it with you . We do not provide fabric for the final project but you can buy a kit from us in class . Our totebag kit costs £10 which includes enough fabric so you can make one at home as well ????
Have you a cancellation policy ?
If you find yourself unable to attend your class and you inform us more than 10 days in advance, we can offer a refund minus 50% of your course fee for administration. Alternatively, you can keep the payment as a credit to book against anyother Sew It Yourself class/course or you can transfer to a future workshop free of charge. If cancellation is made within 10 days of your workshop, we are unable to offer a refund or move you to another class. However, you can always send a friend to take your place - just let us know of the name change.
Where are the classes ?
We try and bring the classes to a location near you .We will always try and find venues suitable for everyone and with parking very near to the venue.
Do you provide lunch ?
Our beginners classes are 4 hours long .We provide tea ,coffee and biscuits and cake to keep you fuelled throughout the class.
How many students are in the class.?
Our beginners class have a maximum of 8 students .By keeping the class small we can give you our full attention.
Is the class suitable for children ?
At the moment we do not offer children's classes due to DBS legislation. BUT parent and child classes will be coming soon .
What happens if I don't attend ?
Non-attendance of classes due to illness or for personal or professional reasons does not provide the right to refunds, extra tuition or a transfer. However, in such an event we will consider all the circumstances and take such action that we consider to be fair and reasonable. If you are signed up on a weekly course, where all classes are connected to make the one project and you miss a class, Sew It Yourself will try offer you a replacement group class, if one is available before your next lesson. This is subject to space availability in the replacement class. However, if we are not running the same lessons, you may wish to take a private lesson, in addition to your course fee to catch up with your original group course. Due to the special nature of our workshops and the very limited enrollment, we would advise you to check your diary carefully before you book the course.
What happens if I'm late ?
If you are running late for your lesson, you must inform us by phone before your lesson is due to begin. If you are more than 30 min late for your lesson, we reserve the right to cancel your attendance. As with the nature of a group classes, late arrivals will impact the progress of the rest in the class, so please aim to be on time. Our studio’s doors will open for your class, 15 minutes prior to your leosson, so please don’t arrive too early as you may interrupt another class.
Whats the minimum class size?
We require a minimum of 4 students to be booked for any class in order to proceed with this class/workshop. We may choose to run a class with less than 4 bookings, but we reserve the right to reschedule undersubscribed classes
What happens to my booking if you cancel my class ?
In the unlikely event when a class/workshop must be cancelled or postponed due to unavoidable circumstances or if a class is undersubscribed, we will give you a minimum of 24 hours’ notice. You will be offered an alternative date or credit for the same amount of money or refunds your payment. We will not be liable for any other costs, wasted travel or expenses that you may incur. If a class is postponed for reasons which we are responsible, including tutor illness or the venue closure due to other reasons out of our control, we will make every reasonable effort to reschedule the class or to add the missed hours onto the remaining course.
How do I book a class?
All bookings must be paid in advance of the start date. If you wish to join a class less than 24 hours before the start please contact us first and we will do our best to fit you in subject to availability.Your place on the course cannot be guaranteed until full payment is received. All fees stated on this booking site are inclusive of VAT. 2.0 Payments:
Where are the venues ?
We are a mobile sewing school .We offer our classes at venues close to You .Please contact us for our current list of venues and dates or check our Facebook or Instagram for up to date information.
Do you offer private classes at my home ?
Yes we can offer private in home classes. Please contact us for availability and prices .Prices start at £35 per hour then £15 per hour there after per student. Discount available for groups of 4 or more .
How much are your classes ?
Our beginners learn to sew class is £45 for 4 hours of tuition ,refreshments use of machines and sewing equipment.
Can I buy kits from you ?
Yes we can supply a range of sewing kits for you to buy .Prices start at £10 for the fabric kit for our tote bag class
